Why I Did A School of Worship and How It Changed My Life
Maybe you, like so many others, view worship as an activity that you “do.”
Before I did my School of Worship I didn’t really know how to accurately even describe what the word “worship” meant. I mostly thought of worship as an “activity” that you do by yourself as well as with others. I thought of it as a time for musicians to lead us in singing and dancing! I even thought of it as a time for us to sit and read the Bible together.
All in all, I knew that I had a passion for worship and that I wanted to grow in my understanding of what worship was. I wanted to see the big picture of worship and understand why we even do it and how it’s important to our journey of faith.
During my School of Worship, I was blown away by the content from the speakers and staff and the simple yet profound truths that they pulled from biblical teachings. Not only did my confidence grow in being able to describe what Worship is, but I gained confidence in focusing solely on God in a room filled with people. My personal prayer life gained momentum and my not so creative mind was able to break free to create!
It was as though this childlike faith within me became a reality during my SOW. No longer was I caught up in trying to perform with an instrument or do everything correctly, but I was okay with stepping out and making a few mistakes along the way.
The culture of acceptance, encouragement, and freedom to be creative in a way that’s unique to you was the perfect catalyst for my faith journey!
I discovered my heart longed for more wholehearted worship by doing the School of Worship and it changed my life forever.
